I am a Mexican American artist specializing in acrylic and oil painting, currently residing in Phoenix. Although I was born in the US, my childhood was mostly spent in Mexico’s most popular tourist areas where I developed my love for surfing and skateboarding. These activities exposed me to the captivating sights of beaches and urban landscapes, which have significantly influenced my use of vibrant colors in my artwork. While living in Mexico I worked as a photographer and honed my skills in framing pictures and capturing light. During that time, I also pursued an apprenticeship in tattooing and continued in the field for a couple of years after completing the program. Eventually, I decided to move to the United States to pursue a formal education in art.

I do my work because I am passionate about capturing life's moments through painting. It brings me joy and fulfillment to continuously improve my anatomy, light, and color skills to create vibrant and meaningful pieces. As I started my journey, I focused on capturing athletes in action poses or everyday movements. My goal is to take my viewers inside my mind and share with them my perceptions of memorable events or projected desires that stick with me. When I am successful in capturing the light and movement in the elements of my painting, I feel a sense of pride and empowerment to take on more challenging projects. I aspire to create pieces that will evoke emotions and leave a lasting impact on the viewer.

When creating my work, I take a deliberate and intuitive approach to decision-making. I enjoy working with oil painting and acrylic, as they allow me to experiment with texture and color. My favorite tool is the paintbrush, which I use to create expressive brush strokes that showcase the movement of my hand. Rather than layering colors, I add them as I see them, creating a more organic feel. I am always looking to expand my knowledge, and while I started out exploring on my own, I now value following traditional techniques. I have a particular fondness for "rosa Mexicano" or "Mexican Pink," which can be found in some of my work.

My current work is inspired by my life experiences and past work. I am exploring the use of color, light, and composition to convey different emotions and sensations. My goal is to challenge traditional ideas of beauty and capture moments of sentimentality, longing, and wistfulness. I draw inspiration from the works of Joaquin Sorolla and Diego Velazquez, whose use of light and color has greatly influenced my work. My pieces reflect personal associations, full of energy and feelings, bright and striking, with moments of solitude and points in time. Some pieces convey moments of dreadful suspense, while others focus on light absorption and reflection. I aim to create a strong effect on the viewer, while also exploring moments of vulnerability, susceptible to physical or emotional attack.
