Cracking the Cube of Life in Your Thirties

The act of twisting the cube represents the decisions we make and how they can lead to a chain reaction of consequences. It is important to approach each move with care and thoughtfulness, as one wrong twist can set off a cascade of events that are difficult to reverse.
The cube's placement on its side adds another layer of meaning to the sculpture. It requires balance to keep it steady, much like the balance we strive to maintain in our lives during this pivotal time. As we navigate the complexities of adulthood and the challenges that come with it, we must strive to maintain balance in all areas of our lives - from work to family to personal pursuits.
Making The Cube
I chose wood as my material because of its versatility and ease with which it can be painted. The process of creating this sculpture was a laborious one, requiring 600 cuts in the saw to create 27 identical cubes.
In collaboration with my art sculpture teacher, I was able to design a rotating top for the sculpture, adding a dynamic element to the work. The result is a piece that is both visually striking and conceptually rich, inviting the viewer to consider the power of repetition and the potential for transformation that lies within it.
